Tulane Department of Surgery

Welcome to Tulane Welcome

Thank you for your interest in our ACGME accredited, five-year, general surgery training program. Here you will find a modern program designed from the best practices in surgical education and rooted in 175 years of surgical and research excellence.

Our competency-based program, affiliation with seven local hospitals, and talented faculty are the core of our comprehensive training. The depth of our clinical experience is such that by the end of the fourth training year, our residents have completed the minimum required number of cases in all categories.

In New Orleans, lagniappe is that special something extra. Lagniappe for us is New Orleans. We are rebuilding healthcare in a vital American city. It is a privilege to work alongside men and women who are turning adversity into opportunity. Here, your educational experience will be interwoven with the rich cultural tapestry that is New Orleans.

Successful Tulane Surgery residents are independently motivated, yet also committed to the healthcare team concept. While academic standing and test scores can indicate future performance, we are more interested in your character, motivation and commitment to excellence.

Good luck in your residency search. We look forward to receiving your application.
