How to Apply

Tulane Surgery participates in ERAS, the electronic residency application service, hosted by the Association of American Medical Colleges: www.aamc.org/eras/ais/start/htm

USMLE Steps 1 and 2 should be completed prior to November 1 of your application year.
We encourage early application.
We only accept online applications.

The following documents should accompany your application:

Personal statement
Three or more letters of recommendation, including one from your current Program Director or Chairman
Official Dean’s letter and transcripts

If you are a graduate of an international medical school:

ECFMG certificate is required for interview.
We sponsor J1 visas only.
Clinical experience in the United States is strongly recommended prior to seeking an interview with Tulane Surgery.

We review applications thoroughly, with particular interest in candidates demonstrating motivation, personal character and commitment to excellence. Although we re receive hundreds of well-qualified applications, we interview about 50 candidates each year.
