The comprehensive learning experience at Tulane incorporates focused technical instruction and protected time for surgical sciences conferences.
In our Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, you learn the most modern, technologically advanced laparoscopic and robotic techniques. In January 2009, our Center for Health Care Simulation will open, setting a new international standard for comprehensive, multidisciplinary training.
On Wednesday mornings, all surgery residents, free from clinical responsibilities, attend teaching conferences.

| 7 - 8 a.m. | Patient Safety and Outcome Conference Designed to teach the pathophysiology and decision making process of complex and interesting surgical cases and complications. |
| 8 - 9 a.m. | Grand Rounds Presentations and discussion lead by faculty, invited lecturers and selected residents. |
| 9 - 10 a.m. | Core Curriculum Conference or Evidence-based Medicine Conference |
| 10 - 11 a.m. | Chairman's Conference Second Wednesdays for 1st and 2nd year residents Third Wednesdays for 3rd, 4th, and 5th year residents |
